In 2012 and 2013, she accompanied a medical missions group to Nicaragua where they offered checkups, doctor evaluations, pharmaceutical needs, and eye and dental examinations to the families in rural villages. These trips led to her desire to learn the Spanish language. She holds a degree in Spanish from Auburn University. She is passionate about developing useful skills and teaching catechesis in rural communities like Las Flores, Belize. Lizzie accompanied Mark and Cindy and the Sisters of Charity to Las Flores, Belize in 2019 to help translate while the team was constructing a home for one of the village families. Since 2015, Lizzie has been a Confirmation teacher and youth minister for Hispanic Youth. After graduating from college, she worked at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament as the Hispanic Pilgrimage Assistant, translating and interpreting for the thousands of Spanish-speaking visitors. It is her desire to continue mission work with her family, both in her hometown in Alabama and abroad. Married to Jeremiah Howell (who has also been to Las Flores, Belize, and a project consultant) have a baby boy born in 2020 and a baby girl born December 2021. She and her husband have ministered to the Hispanic youth together at their local parish since 2017, and taught catechesis for Confirmation since 2018.
