After a thirty plus (30+) year career as an Auditor of State of Ohio and a Chief Fiscal Officer (CFO) for the Meigs Local School District in Pomeroy, Ohio, from May, 1984 until his retirement effective December 31, 2014, Mark, and his beautiful wife Cindy, moved to Hanceville, Alabama, close to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, to deepen their faith in 2015. Starting in October, 2015, in cooperation with the Sisters of Charity in Nazareth, Kentucky, Mark and Cindy began doing their volunteer work as lay missionaries, mainly in Belize, Central America. Mark and Cindy helped in the raising of funds, construction planning and physical labor of building or renovation of small houses for needy families; as well as, starting in 2018, the San Miguel Arcangel Mission building in Las Flores, Belize, which will house volunteers for immersion trips in the future, to help meet the physical/medical, educational/vocational, financial and spiritual needs of the poor and disenfranchised villagers of Las Flores and surrounding communities.
