My name is Alberto William Sibrian, I am 31 years old and I live in the beautiful Village of Las Flores, Belize. Me and my partner of 11 years, Jessy Chan, are the parents of a beautiful daughter named Jazlyn Sibrian. I have eleven years of experience in the field of construction. I love what I do, and my biggest dream is to one day own my own construction company, but I trust God’s timing. About two years ago He presented the opportunity of meeting Mark and Cindy Rhonemus, of Alabama. I was super happy and grateful when they offered me the opportunity to come on board with their Charity. I already loved the work that I do, but this opportunity gave me a much more meaningful purpose. I am the Project Construction Manager; in charge of the estimating, coordination, and construction of the projects that help the people who are in need here in the country of Belize.
My family comes from Salvadoran roots. My parents came to Belize as refugees when the terrible wars were happening in El Salvador, and my siblings and I were born here in Belize. I have eight sisters and I am the only male; they call me the king in between so many sisters and I wouldn’t have it any other way, my sisters and I have a very strong bond. When my parents came to Belize, my grandparents stayed in El Salvador. When I was about 5 years old, my parents decided to go back. I spent a portion of my childhood there and studied up to standard 5. When I was about 13 years old my parents decided once more to come back to Belize due to the economic hardships we were facing. Getting back to Belize, I tried going back to school, but found it very overwhelming due to the fact that I couldn’t speak English. I struggled to stay in school for about 18 months, but it didn’t feel right for me. I quit school when I was 15 years old and started working with my Dad in Agriculture. After two years of working with my father, I worked in a sofa set manufacturing company, and then at a Carpentry Workshop, for about four years.
At 20 years of age, I started working for Builders Vision construction company as an assistant bricklayer. Within 8 months, the owner of the company, promoted me to work as an actual construction worker. I worked with this company for eight (8) years and it allowed me the opportunity to learn the construction trade. I gained the knowledge needed that helped to put me in the position I currently am.
I am happy with my workmanship and proud of how far I’ve come with the help of God. My goal each day is to continue improving and giving thanks to the Lord, because I know He was the one who opened every door that led me here.
